Tools used: Articulate Storyline, Canva
Additional deliverables: Design Document | Storyboard | Job Aid
Audience: All staff at Steady Draw Training Grounds who are new to setting up and running the archery range.
Problem: Insufficient onboarding and safety training have led to inconsistent range setup, unclear communication with participants during sessions, safety concerns and reduced customer confidence in ratings. The goal is for safety incidents to decrease by 50% over the season and participant satisfaction scores in relation to safety and professionalism to increase by 20%.
Solution: New and current staff will complete this e-Learning module by following along with the virtual archery staff in setting up the range, learning and giving safety commands, storing and maintaining equipment, and supervising the range. They will participate in practicing these skills in realistic scenarios, as well as analyzing situations where informed decisions must be made.
Highlights: This course includes realistic managers and archery staff who guide the learner through realistic scenarios regarding setup, range operations, maintaining equipment, and managing sessions, as well as how to troubleshoot potential problems that may arise. Knowledge Checks and scenario-based assessment included to monitor for understanding of concepts.
Process: After reviewing incident forms and customer reviews regarding the staff and facility, I created a continuous, simulated archery range scenario that would immerse learners in the range from setup to supervision of participants, choosing some mini-scenarios that would highlight required skills and problem-solving skills. I created the Design Document and Storyboard to provide more specifics on the objectives and content of the course to receive feedback and approval from the client. The world of Steady Draw Training Grounds was created with images made in Canva and integrated into Articulate Storyline. Interactive components and scenario-based questions were added to increase engagement for learners.
Following implementation, training effectiveness would be evaluated using Kirkpatrick's Levels of Evaluation.
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 of Evaluation:
a final graded assessment at the end of the training, consisting of five scenario-based questions reflecting common situations staff encounter on the range and the approved Learning Objectives; learners would need to pass with a score of 80%
a series of ungraded Knowledge Checks after each topic to check for understanding and retention
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 of Evaluation (to occur 3 months after completion of training):
customer surveys to measure professionalism and satisfaction
incident report audit to measure the reduction in safety incidents
observation of range setup and participant supervision
consult with the range manager to determine overall performance of learners
Lessons Learned: If I were to create this training again, I would focus solely on range setup, archery commands, and supervising participants during range sessions. Storing and maintenance of equipment could be done in a subsequent training or as a microlearning course to accompany this one.

Bread & Butterflies Bake Shop
Tools used: Articulate Rise, Canva
Additional deliverables: Design Document | Job Aid
Audience: All staff at the bakery who are relatively new to baking with a year, or less of experience.
Problem: Employees at Bread and Butterflies Bake Shop are not accurately measuring ingredients with the appropriate tools or following the recipe’s procedural sequence, resulting in significant changes to the taste, texture, and appearance of baked goods. The goal is for customer complaints to decrease by 50% due to increased accuracy in preparing and baking recipes.
Solution: New and current staff will complete this e-Learning module that will focus on how to measure ingredients appropriately with the required tools, how to operate baking equipment properly, and how to follow procedures in a recipe.
Highlights: This course features realistic visuals of measuring tools and ingredients commonly used in the bakery and engaging interactions and procedural steps for using tools and equipment. Knowledge Checks and scenario-based assessments are included to monitor understanding of skills presented.
Process: After reviewing customer satisfaction results and talking with the client, I created a comprehensive course that combines needed information, like the process of baking and following recipes, with engaging interactions and clear visuals, as well as Knowledge Checks and a scenario-based assessment to measure learning. Providing a Design Document to provide more details on objectives and content of the course, the client was then able to offer feedback and approve the module. Visuals were created in Canva and then integrated into Articulate Rise to create interactive practice opportunities.
Effectiveness of training will be evaluated upon completion using Kirkpatrick's Levels of Evaluation.
Kirkpatrick's Level 2 of Evaluation:
a final graded assessment at the conclusion of training, consisting of six scenario-based questions designed to measure the understanding of approved Learning Objectives and content presented; learners would need to pass with a score of 83%
ungraded Knowledge Checks following each topic to assess comprehension and retention
Kirkpatrick's Level 3 of Evaluation (to occur 3 months after completion of training):
customer surveys to measure professionalism and satisfaction
observation of staff baking procedures
consults with head pastry chef and kitchen manager to determine overall performance of learners
Lessons Learned: If I were to create this training again, I would include video of how to mix ingredients properly to observe technique and proper texture that results. Additionally, sections on kinds of ingredients and preparing cake pans could have been separated into a microlearning courses.
